Know about Fusion Bonded Epoxy Powder and it's Industrial Applications

The Fusion Bonded Epoxy Powder Coating, or FBE , is a coating applied to a metal's surface like dry Powder. The Powder is made of Epoxy resins, hardeners, additives etc. The coating is applied to the surface by electrostatic spray deposition. This technique charges the Powder particles and then sprays them on metal's surface resulting in forming the initial protective coating layer.

After applying the coating, the preheated metal melts the Epoxy resin and hardening agent and fuse them together to form a hard and durable coating over the surface. This process is called Thermoset curing.

The heat causes the Powder particles to melt and flow to form a uniform protective coating layer. This type of coating helps protect metal surfaces from damage and wear. The adhesion strength of Fusion Bonded Epoxy Powder bonding is very high, and it can be used to protect metal surfaces subjected to high mechanical stress and environmental situations. This coating provides excellent resistance to salt water, chemical agents.

The Different Applications of Fusion Bonded Epoxy Powder coating:
The FBE coating provides a consistent finish. Hence, this coating can be applied to many metals that have complex shapes and structures.

1. Electronics and Electric Accessories:
The FBE coating has several insulation properties , so it is one of the best choices for coating electric equipments and electronic parts.

2.Industrial Pipelines:
The FBE coating is used as a primer of 3LP coating which is followed by an adhesive copolymer and another layer of polyethylene which provides long term corrosion protection operating at moderate temperatures and pressure, which is very important in Oil and Gas pipelines.
